Springfield Armory Omega Match 1911-A1 in 10MM Listing ID: 3122009

This one is a rare find. Springfield Armory brought these pistols to the US market in the 1980s and 90s, marketing them under the "Omega" name.

You have a very rare pistol on your hands. Here is what the head of our repair shop had to say:

Omega Match was the product improved version of the Omega. It addressed several shortcomings, one of which was the pusher and extractor arrangement.

Since the Omega was designed to be multi-caliber, the left breech wall needed to be moveable, or adjustable, to accommodate different sizes of case heads. The original Omega design relied on balancing the spring weights between the pusher and extractor (and a lot of tuning), with lackluster results. The Omega Match addressed this by using the large set screw as a fixed breech wall that could be easily adjusted to accommodate the chosen caliber.

Omega Match is pretty rare. I've no idea the numbers that were actually produced but it's very low. I don't remember that we ever got to the point of having an updated manual for it; maybe there was an insert I'm forgetting but there's nothing in my archive about it.
